Finally got home and unloaded about 2:30am.

I won an auction down at Indiana University for an SGI Origin 2000 System
and 19 racks.

Trip was an adventure. Rented a 26ft Penske Truck which was a junkheap in
itself. Off we went. My gf and her best friend went along and had a blast.
7 Hour drive down from Michigan to Bloomington Indiana. In a rainstorm at
dark. Waffle House outside of Indianapolis made for a very nice night.

Got loaded up 9am yesterday morning. And headed home.

Here are pics of the SGIs. And my gf's find an IBM Selectric II. Shes a
typewriter lover.

Plan now is to start rounding up parts to fix it. It seems mostly cosmetic.
Goal is to have it fully operational by VCFMW.

From the pics I'm assuming most of the 19 racks were just empty racks?

I'm looking forward to seeing an inventory of your O2K system :)

IIRC, the Origin terminology was for the compute rack configuration
and the Onyx2 terminology was for the graphics rack configurations.

These rack systems basically consist of a rack that can hold 2 boxes
top and bottom. The boxes are essentially the same as what they sold
in the deskside boxes you can see on nekochan's wiki.

The 19 racks had some cluster equipment in them. lots of power equipment.
Got some decent gigabit switches out of it. All not bad for 250 bucks
total and a 7 hour drive.

The racks im repurposing for around the house. Shelving in the shop,
Turns out they are great for a kitchen storage. Gotta think outside the
box for using them lol. But at the price they were i couldnt refuse.

Im excited to get them together. I thought of just deracking the SGIs to
make them easier to work with then eventually reassemble once i get them
fully operational.

I learnt on a manual typewriter back in high-school. (They insisted
on manuals with the rationale that if you can touch-type on a manual,
you can type on anything. I really built up strong fingers in that
course, especially little fingers.) We have a portable Panasonic
electric somewhere, as well as a Selectric (but the font wheels no
longer line up properly).
