Lionel,

I use the Cisco blue cables + this exact model of 4 port USB to serial converter with both my T2000's RJ-45 and U45's DB9. https://www.amazon.com/Gearmo-Serial-Windows-Certified-Drivers/dp/B004ETDC8K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1507821299&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+serial+4+port

Linux has drivers for sure.I'm not sure if Solaris supports it but I'd say probably (you can also find them cheaper on ebay if you search for the chipset FT4232 ). I also like CP2102 based USB serial converters as those use standard USB CDC ACM drivers instead of a chip specific driver.

It appears that Solaris newer than Solaris 10 8/07 supports USB CDC ACM RS232 converters. https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18752_01/html/817-5093/gafhv.html#gdbhi
